Alex Gibbs, Jr. peacefully entered into eternal rest on May 16, 2016 at The St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales,La. Alex, affectionately known by his co-workers and frinds as "Gibbs" was truly one of a kind. He was known for his singing soul, kind words, and jokes. Gibbs was a loyal and dedicated staff member of the Lawson-Rollins Purple Shield Funeral Home of Gonzales where he was well respected and appreciated. He will truly be forever loved and missed.

He is survived by his faithful wife of 36 years, Marion (Rena) Mitchell Gibbs; 2 daughters, Redonda Gibbs and Alycia (Charles) Burgin; 1 son, Elliot (LaTesha) Gibbs, Sr.; 7 grandchildren, Demarcus Carey, Jermarcus Carey, Tyren Gordon, Erin Gibbs, Elliot Gibbs, Jr., Erial Gibbs and Jaxsyn Burgin; One sister, Victoria (Joe) Lewis; 2 aunts, Janie Franklin and Mildred Gibbs; 8 sister-in-laws, 4 brother-in-laws and a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Alex Gibbs, Sr. and Ernestine Gibbs and brother Wayne Gibbs.
