Amos "Hamp" Hamilton Jr., 87, a long time resident of Geismar, Louisiana passed away on July 5, 2023. Amos attended school locally in Dutchtown, Louisiana. Amos was a proud veteran of the United States Army.  Amos "Hamp" was a strong willed, independent go-getter.  Amos prospered as a successful entrepreneur by engaging in numerous business ventures including owning two mini-markets and seven investment properties.  Amos loved the country and spent his time living in both California and Louisiana.  Amos "Hamp" leaves to cherish his memories three children from his marriage to Marjorie Lee Banks, of Carville Louisiana. He leaves two daughters, Tanya Wilson and Cassandra Hamilton; one son Dwayne Hamilton; his grandchildren Jerrayl, Taila, Damani, Jabari, and Nyah; his great granddaughter, Teresa; his sibling, Millie Hamilton Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.  Amos "Hamp" was preceded in death by his parents, Amos Hamilton Sr., and Ollie Bell Marcell; his older brother Rudolph Dempsey Jr.; his older sister Elizabeth Goodlow and his younger sister, Victoria Hamilton.

Those that really knew Hamp knew that his outer shell of toughness was simply to cover his giving heart.
