Betsy Mae Lewis was born on October 23, 1943 to the union of the late Eddie Lewis and Minerva Joseph Lewis of Sorrento, La.
Betsy Mae was baptized at an early age. She was educated within Ascension Parish School System and also attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. She was well known in the community and was associated with WXOK in Donaldsonville, La where she was a broadcaster. She was instrumental in bringing great gospel music to the area. Betsy Mae was such a good cook and has been credited with making the best boudin in town for many years.
Betsy Mae was married to Clarence Sensley Jr and to that union two children were born Aretha Sensley-Holland Atlanta, Ga and Nathaniel Sensley (Cassandra) of Baton Rouge, La. She was a faithful member of the New St. John Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Clarence Stephens where she served faithfully on the deaconess board until she became ill. She loved her church and pastor.
Betsy Mae leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter Aretha Sensley-Holland of Atlanta, Ga, her son Nathaniel Sensley (Cassandra) of Baton Rouge, La, Six grandchildren; Courtney Sensley, Zen Delaney, Dunta Sensley, Cameron Sensley all of Atlanta, Ga, Alexis Moses of Baton Rouge, La, and Lavontea Humphrey of Houston, Tx. Two Brothers; Joes Lewis of Baton Rouge, La and James Edward Lewis, Sr of Convent, La, Sister-In-Law Min Beverly A. Lewis of Sorrento, La. Three godchildren ; Jersey Joe Lewis, Jr, Trevance Lewis both of Sorrento, La and Shaquille Lewis of Baton Rouge, La, and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, two brothers Gerald Carter and Adam Lewis , a god child and nephew James Lewis Jr.
