Carolyn Lois Pinell was born August 7, 1951 to the union of the late Severia and Ethel (Raven) Pinell Sr. of Gonzales, LA at home.  She transitioned from this life on October 26, 2022 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA.

Cal, as she was affectionately known by many, yet "Tee Cal '' to those that loved her most, was a caring, compassionate, and loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, confidant, et alia.  A native and lifelong resident of Gonzales, LA, she accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was baptized by the late Reverend A.L. Smith at the New St. John Baptist Church.  While attending NSJBC she served as Usher and also as secretary.   She later moved her membership, unwavering faith, and total trust in God under the tutelage of Bishop Adrien Claiborne at the Truelight Worship Center in Gonzales, LA until she was relieved of her duties.

Living in Ascension Parish as a negro woman, she was required to attend G.W. Carver Primary grades 1-8 and was the third and final class of John F. Kennedy Memorial Sr. High in 1969.  This was the last graduating class officially ending segregation in Ascension Parish. Upon graduating high school, Cal went on to attend Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA majoring in Interior Design.  Concluding her third year at SU, she would marry her best friend, Willie Shelvin, and begin a family. Cal was known as a fashionista; beautiful seamstress who never wore the same thing twice, caretaker; daycare at Little Lads and Lassies later assisting in caring for both parents until their demise, homemaker; frying chicken and red beans was voted as best meal ever, and later as that mean cashier that required ID even when she knew you, giving Circle K Food Stores Inc. nearly 2 decades prior to her retirement at 62.  Prior to her retirement she also got the title of Obstetrician delivering, the 4th generation of her mother's offspring, her only daughter's daughter at home.

She leaves behind her legacy in 3 sons and 1 daughter; Willie R. Shelvin (Gonzales, LA), Steven R. Pinell [Shonda] (Fate, TX), Michael D. Pinell (Baton Rouge, LA), and  Stephanie N. Pinell (Gonzales, LA); 2 brothers and 1 sister, Severia Jr. [Gloria] (Gonzales, LA), Seth K. Sr. [Paula] (Prairieville, LA), and Cherlynn P. Turner [Alvin Jr.]; 6 granddaughters; Destiney, Railyn, Faith, Kyleigh, Karson, and Kenadee; 4 grandsons Detrick [Alexander], Edward, Jermiah Deshazier,  and Darius Jr.;  3 great-grandchildren Aydon, Kynslee, and Kota; 2 maternal aunts Ella Rose Williams (Humble, TX) and Elmire Raven (Mt. Pleasant, SC); an array of nieces, nephews, and a dedicated  friend/daughter, Shelita L. Jackson.

Carolyn was preceded in death by: her husband Willie, son Thaddaeus Pinell, father and mother Severia Sr. and Ethel Raven, paternal/maternal grandparents Arthur (Ama Gray) Valentine Sr. / Howard (Maude Nabors) Raven Sr.; Father and Mother in-law, Allen and Leola (Moton) Shelvin, Aunts, Uncles, and other relatives and friends.
