Carrie Clark Watis was born on January 27, 1943 to the union of the late Archille and Dora Jackson Clark. She departed this life on Friday, May 26, 2023 at her home in Convent, Louisiana.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized by the late Reverend Ashton on August 9, 1959 under the pastorate of the late Reverend Henderson Jackson. She was a faithful servant of the First Pilgrim Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. For many years she unselfishly served as a Deaconess.
She was united in holy matrimony on January 20, 1968 to the late Clifford Watis. To this union two children were born, Daffiney Watis and Thaddeus Watis.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crafting, helping family and friends or anyone in need.
She is survived by her daughter, Daffiney Watis, Gonzales, LA; her son, Thaddeus Watis (Laquita), Convent, LA; six sisters, Fannie Sharper (Booker), Mary Carter (Edward), Dora Lunkin Gonzales, LA; Ruth Melancon (Joseph) Geismar, LA; Ruby Duckett (Herman) Avondale, LA; Ellen Perkins (Wayne) Baytown, TX; two brothers, Cornelius Clark (Bernadette); Henderson Clark (Juanita) Gonzales, LA; fourteen Grandchildren: Treyvone, Dezalyn, De'Ondre, Jordan, Ty'Rus and Caiden Watis; De'Qjuan, DiSean and Mahogany Ester; Dremond Morris; JaOnte Jones; Tramane and Tramiyah Landry and Ry'an Scott; six Great-grandchildren: Aycelyn, Kashton, Jahmir, Nova, Kennedi and Melachi and five Godchildren: Carlton Clark, Ashley White, Shavone Earl, Marion Johnson, Ariel Patterson and Jena Ursin and a host of devoted aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, her husband, Clifford, three sisters, Odeal Cooper, Sarah Miller, Linda Johnson, six brothers: Ben, Phillip, Archille, Jr., Earnest, Clarence and John Clark; and one grandson Thaddeus Watis, Jr.
