On Friday, September 16, 2016, a beautiful spirit ascended into heaven. Charles Ray Anderson Jr., at the age of 50, passed away suddenly, in Gonzales, Louisiana. Charles Ray Anderson Jr. was born in Berlin, Germany, on September 1, 1966, to the late Ethel Bell Anderson and Charles A. Anderson Sr. He was one of five off springs as a result of that union.

Charles gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by the late Reverend T.J. Jemison. He joined and attended several churches throughout his adult life. Charles was employed at Magnolia Medical Center, Baton Rouge La, as a prosthetic and orthotic technician. Charles graduated from East Ascension High school in 1985. Because of his athleticism, nobility, caring nature, and popularity, he was the first African American to be honored as Mr. East Ascension High School, his senior year. Charles was an enormous sports fan. He clearly demonstrated a passion for football. He was a humongous Dallas Cowboy fan. He often referred to football season as, "His time of the year". He will be forever remembered by many family members and friends.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife, of whom he was devoted to for 27 years, Rochelle Smith Anderson, a daughter, Kayla LaSha Anderson, two sons, Jordan Rashad Anderson and Jyron Charles Anderson. Sisters, Roma L. Anderson and Chayne M. Anderson (Norcross, GA), Betty (Joseph) Rogers (Baton Rouge, LA), brothers, Patrick O. Anderson (Gonzales, LA) and Courtland A. Anderson (Baton Rouge, LA). His father, Charles A. (Stepmother, Vonja) Anderson Sr. (Baton Rouge, LA), Mother-in-law, Neta Tillotson Smith (Prairieville, LA), sisters-in-law, Donna S. Smith (Baton Rouge, LA) and Danita E. Smith (Plano, TX). Three godchildren, Malik Anderson, Deshaua Ricardo, and Gavin Delmore. He also leaves a host other family members and friends to remember his love and kindness.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Bell Anderson, father-in-law, Roy Gilbert Smith, his maternal grandparents, Ernest (Abby) Bell Sr. and paternal grandparents, Alfred (Leeana) Anderson. Charles was also preceded in death by many uncles, aunts, cousins and dear friends.

Charles touched the lives of many through his love for cooking, and social gatherings with family and friends. One of his greatest joys was when he was able to share tasty food, laughter, and camaraderie with those around him. His legacy of kindness, respectfulness and genuineness will live on forever in his honor.
