Curtis Roberson 87, a native and resident of Prairieville, LA, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospice-The Carpenter House, Baton Rouge, LA. He was a retired Ascension Parish School System employee with 20 years of service. He accepted Christ and was baptized by the late Rev. John Marcell at the Mt. Gillion Baptist Church, Prairieville, LA. and was under the leadership of Pastor Jermaine Brumfield, Sr.
Curtis leaves to cherish his memory, (1) daughter, Diane Coco, Prairieville; (2) nieces whom he reared, Peggy Stephens, Gonzales and Troy (Malvin) Lee, Prairieville; (4) granddaughters, LaShonda Coco and Terri (Bryan) Carter, Tamra and Brianna Lee, (2) grandsons, Jermaine Stephens and Trey Lee, (1) great-grandson, Jared Mitchell, (2) great-granddaughters, Samira and Teana Stephens, (1) Godson, James Roberson, Orlando, FL., (5) sisters-in-laws, Julia (Ernest) Stephens, Dorothy and Rosa Nell Hall of Gonzales, Thelma Hall of Head of Island, and Lottie Roberson Mumford of Prairieville, his extended family included Cindy Stevens, Gonzales; Terry (Edla) Hodgeson, Gonzales; Joshua (Ecenthia) Burnett, Houston, TX and Donald (Kathleen) Carmouche, Baton Rouge, Bernie (Mary) Thomas, Hunstville, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Curtis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Leona Hall-Roberson; his parents, Henriette York Roberson and Hillery Roberson; (9) sisters, Lucinda Burns, Gladys Bryd, Thelma Wilson, Ethel Parms, Mamie Jones, Leona Roberson, Hilda Roberson. Gertie Cushenberry and Lizzie Douglas; (4) brothers, James, Hillery, Dudley and Seymore Roberson.
Visitation will take place at Mt. Gillion Baptist Church 38289 Henry Road, Prairieville, LA on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 9:00am until the religious service at 11:00am, conducted by Pastor Jermaine Brumfield, Sr. ; Burial at New St. John Fellowship Cemetery, W. Orice Rd., Gonzales, LA.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the overwhelming amount of love shown to them during their moment of bereavement. No act of kindness has gone unnoticed, and a more formal thank you will be done at a later date.
Also a special thanks to his caregiver, Karen Larks, Amedisys Home Health and his Medical Team, Drs. Malur, Rodney, Morris, Yadlapati ,Murrill and Calegan. Heartfelt thanks to St. Joseph Hospice-The Carpenter House, Pastor Jermaine Brumfield, Sr. and the Mt. Gillion Church Family.
