Eddie York, Jr. , affectionately known as "Popsy", was born to the union of Eddie and Bertha York on December 18, 1948, in Baton Rouge, LA. He departed this earthly realm on Thursday, January 27, 2022.
Popsy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Simon Barnes at True Light Baptist Church, Prairieville, LA. He later joined the St. Joseph Baptist Church in St. Gabriel, LA where he served faithfully until his death.
He was a Vietnam Veteran, having enlisted in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1972.
Popsy was united in holy matrimony to Brenda Joyce Dangerfield on November 29, 1969, and to this union three children were born, De'Shoin, Rodrick and Gavin.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted and faithful wife of 52 years, Brenda J. York; children, De'Shoin, St. Gabriel, LA, Rodrick (Shannon), Houston, TX, and Gavin, St. Gabriel, LA.; granddaughters: Mykayla D. Gordon, Chelsea N. Friendship, Gabrielle and A'Myah York; foster son, Alvin Richardson, St. Gabriel, LA; his mother, Bertha Cain York, Prairieville, LA; sisters, Joyce York, Baton Rouge, LA, JoAnn York, Prairieville, LA, Laura York, Prairieville, LA and Alice York, Baton Rouge, LA; two brothers, Willie York and Joseph York both of Prairieville, LA. Three sisters-in-law; Linda Queen, Baton Rouge, Joan Marie Carter, St. Gabriel, LA and Essie C. Stevens, St. Gabriel, LA. One brother-in-law, Will Danielfield (Flora), St. Gabriel, LA. Five god-children; LaKeitha York, Jared Carter, Ashley Washington, Justin York, and Jordan York; god-mother, Clara Woodard, Baton Rouge, LA. Three brotherly cousins, Samuel York, Sr., Harold Beauchamp, and Shelly Christy; one sisterly cousin, Linda Nash; close friends Leo Brown, Robert Brown, and Johnny Morris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Popsy was proceeded in death by his father, Eddie York, Sr., nephew, Darryl York, grandparents; Orelious and Ella York and Easter and Willie Cain, Sr.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the overwhelming amount of love shown to them during their moment of bereavement. No act of kindness has gone unnoticed, and a more formal thank you will be done at a later date.
