Georgia "Mae Mae" Matthews, a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Gonzales, passed away at 4:24 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014. She was 61. Survivors include her husband, Vernon Matthews; three daughters, Lisa Payne, Tammie Morgan and Vernee Jackson; three sons, Reginald Javius, Carlton Vallo and Vernon J. Matthews; a sister, Betty Smith; a brother, Charles Williams; and 24 grandchildren. Preceded in death by her mother, Georgetta Thomas; father, John L. Lewis; two brothers, William Lewis and James Lewis; two sons, Terrance and Lawrence Matthews; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, with services at 11 a.m. at the church, conducted by the Rev. Paul Murray. Interment will be at Springhill Baptist Church, Liberty, Miss
