A native of Sorrento and resident of Baton Rouge, he died of lung cancer at 10:55 a.m., Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge. He was 60 and retired. Visiting at Purple Shield Funeral Home on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Services begin at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Alex Sheldon. Interment in Goodwill Cemetery, Head of Island, La. Survivors include his sister, Prophetess Helen Washington; nephews, Terry and wife Cynthia Hagan, and Christopher and wife Inca Hagan; nieces, Andrea Hagan, Carolyn Hagan, Joyce and Marguerite Lomas; great-nephews, Javon Hagan, Christopher Hagan, Jr., Malcolm Hagan, Eric Platt and Derik Platt; 2 great-nieces, Tashia Lomas of Syracuse, NY, and Kamea Stewart of Gonzales. Preceded in death by his parents, Van and Margaret Sanchez; two brothers, Whitney and Nolan Lomas; aunts, Cecile Anny, Beulah Payne Butler and Mary Sanchez; uncles, James Sanchez, John Anny, Samuel Payne and Carl Louis Payne.
