John Hayward Burnett Jr. 77 years old, a native of Gonzales, Louisiana passed away on December 12, 2020 at the Baton Rouge General Hospital. Visitation will be held at Do Right Full Gospel Church Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 10:00 am, Gonzales, Louisiana. Service will begin at 11: 00 am outside of the church of Do Right Full Gospel Church. Burial will follow in the Cemetery.

On Saturday, December 12, 2020, John Hayward Burnett Jr. was called home to be with the Lord. He was baptized at an early age by the Rev. Fredrick Burnett. He was raised in the church by his parents the late John Sr. and Zerdia Burnett their strong belief that if you trained a child the way that he should go that he would not depart for it (the way of the Lord). He knew that God was the center of his life no matter what came in his life.

John Hayward Burnett Jr. was born September 12, 1943 in Gonzales, LA. He was the oldest of 13 children. He worked as bus driver for CATS and Hotard. He was also a car salesman for Gerry Lane. He served in the United Stated Army for 4 year and fought in the Viet man War.

He was married to Mildred Ward for 13 years and they still remain friends throughout the years.

He has bless us with unforgettable memories of him, one daughter, Yulmekica Nelson, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 6 sisters; June Irvin (Harold), Janice Burnett, JoAnn Burnett, Julie Blouin (Rev. Irvin) , Dorothy Jackson (Gerald), Cynthia Moses (Frank) and Anita Cann (Rev. Cloyd) 4 brothers ; Joshua Burnett (Ecenthia), Joel Burnett (Rev. Beverly), Melvin Burnett and George Burnett, 1 aunt; Nellie Oliver, 1 sister-in-law Rev. Sylvia Burnett Payton and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

He was preceded in death by his parent Rev John H. Burnett Sr. and Zerdia Lee Burnett, his son Brice Lewis,  his brother, Joseph H. Burnett, sister-in-law, Annie Mae Burnett, nephew, Sheldon Irvin and great nephew, Leroy Thompson III.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the overwhelming amount of love shown to them during their moment of bereavement. No act of kindness has gone unnoticed, and a more formal thank you will be done at a later date.
