Johnnell "Bay" Vallery Sr., a native of Geismar and resident of Baton Rouge, departed this life on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at First Pilgrim Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 11453 Hwy. 73, Geismar, La. from 9:00 am until religious service at 11:00 am, conducted by Rev. Irvin Briley Jr. Interment will follow in church cemetery. He is survived by 2 sons, Johnel Vallery Jr. and Jerard Vallery; 1 grandchild, Alajah Vallery; 2 sisters, Gloria V. Nelson and Joann V. Lockett; 1 godchild, Maria V. Corbin and 1 nephew along with a host of nieces, relatives and friends. Also left to cherish his memory is a devoted friend, Theresa Patterson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Vallery Sr. and Beaulah Favorite Vallery; spouse, Helen H. Vallery; brother, Herbert Vallery Jr.; nephew, Herbert Vallery III; and brothers-in-law, Oris Nelson and Lionel Lockett Jr. Lawson-Rollins Purple Shield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family would like to thank Dr. Derrick Spell and the medical staff of Our Lady of the Lake RMC that participated in his care.
