Joyce Thompson Christy, 79, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012. She was a native of East Feliciana Parish and a longtime resident of Prairieville, Louisiana. She was a retired educator and guidance counselor with the Ascension Parish Public School System. Joyce is survived by her husband, Larry H. Christy, Prairieville; two daughters, Dwana Michelle King and her husband Eddie, Baton Rouge, and Kimberly Jenean Christy, Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Eunice Pavageau and Jessie M. Woodard, of Baton Rouge; and two grandchildren, Christian and Cara King, of Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Davis Thompson; father, William Henry Thompson; and sister, Mary Thompson Stone. Viewing will be held at Lawson-Rollins Purple Shield Funeral Home, 511 W. Tobey Ave., Gonzales, on Friday, May 18, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held at Jordan United Methodist Church, 4919 Stearns St., Baton Rouge, on Saturday, May 19, at 11 a.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Davis Clark.
