Obituary

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Kevin Terrell Martin passed away, leaving behind a chapter in our family’s story that will forever remain a part of who we are. Although many years and circumstances kept us apart, Kevin remained a part of our family, connected to us through the bonds of family and the memories of the life we once shared. His passing gives us a moment to reflect on life, family, and the connections that remain, even when time and distance separate us. Today, we remember Kevin with respect and acknowledge his life and the place he will always hold in our family. Kevin Terrell Martin was born on November 28, 1968, at Lallie Kemp Medical Center in Independence, Louisiana, to Margarite Bennett Graves. He accepted Christ at an early age and enjoyed reading the Bible, playing video games, watching sports, and sharing jokes that brought laughter to those around him.

Those Left to Cherish His Memory

Kevin leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Angela Martin, Ayanna Graves, and Kawana Martin, all of Darrow, Louisiana; and his brothers, Claude Graves Jr. of Darrow, Louisiana; Fabian Graves of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Kendell Crockett of Gonzales, Louisiana; eight nieces, Aafarian Martin, Aanesha Martin, Aaniya Martin, Antrica (Ashley) Simpson, Caijah Howard, Camryn Graves and Rhyan Keller; five nephews, Brent (Sarah) Graves, De’Andre (Kaylyn) Graves, Dwayne Gauthier, Claude Harvey and Dee’Qwendius Edwards; and five great nephews, Dreu Graves, Cyler Haynes, Harlem Howard, Micaz Coleman, and De’Andre Graves Jr.; grandmother, Mary Bennett; ten aunts: Rosette Robinson, Beverly Williams, Berniece Bennett, Cynthia (Joseph) Wilson, Elouise Hamilton, Beverly (Charlie) Stewart, Dorothy Martin, Monica Ruffin, Shirley Craigs and Carolyn Marshall; and four uncles, Charles Bennett, Clarence Jackson, Darrell Johnson and Bobby (Elaine) Martin; two great-aunts, Irma B. Kencey and Ethel B. Jackson; two great-uncles, Isaac Bennett and John Bennett.

Those Who Preceded Him in Death

Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Margarite Bennett Graves; his maternal grandparents, Alex and Elnora Bennett; his paternal grandparents, LeAnder and Olivia Martin; and a host of aunts and uncles. May his memory remain a part of our family’s story, and may those who remember him find comfort in the memories and family connections that endure.
