Leslie Brown, a resident of Gonzales, LA passed away surrounded by family and friends on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the age of 94. He was born on December 25, 1919 in Sorrento, LA and was a resident of Gonzales, LA for more than 90 years. He joined the United States Army in 1943, served during WWII, and was honorably discharged in 1947. He is survived by a daughter, Nita Brown Allen Brown, Los Angeles, CA; a step-daughter, Luvenia Hayes, Providence, RI; a loving and dedicated granddaughter who he raised, Djuna Brown Ambeau (Barry), Gonzales, LA; a grandson, Henry Brown, Seattle WA; two great-grandchildren (Jonathan and Alexis); two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Williams, Baton Rouge, LA; a son he raised Henry Dorsey, Baton Rouge, LA; a nephew, John "J.D." Thomas (Jessie), Baton Rouge, LA; two nieces; one nephew; a loving and dedicated caregiver for more than 17 years, Dorothy Raby; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 9:30am until services commence at 11am at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Gonzales, officiated by Pastor Paul Murray. Interment will be at the Louisiana National Cemetery, Zachary, LA.
