The Celebration of a Life Well Lived Bro. Lucien Cornelius "Troop" Perkins

Lucien Cornelius Perkins , affectionately known as "LC", "Troop", and "Trooper". While playing Basketball in High School, he was known as
"Black Tongue". Lucien was born in Burnside, Louisiana on July 1, 1946 as the third child of (9) children, dearly cherished by his parents -the late Dan Perkins, Sr. and the late Margaret Lindsey Perkins. He and his siblings were reared under the admonition of Fear of God and taught the Living Word of God.

Lucien was baptized at the age of (12) in the Mississippi River by the late Reverend Mark Hannon Butler at Hopeful Baptist Church in
Hillaryville, La. For greater than (30) years Lucien was active in the Church and diligently served as needed. He then moved his membership to Hopeful Triumph Baptist Church under the late Reverend James Gipson. He faithfully served as an Usher until he heard from the Lord to move his
membership to the Word of Life Christian Center under the tutelage of Apostle Leroy Thompson, Sr. for the last (15) years or more until his
transition home with the Lord.

Lucien had a long work history that started at Williams Company, that migrated into Agrico Chemicals that lasted over (30) years in St. James, La
as a Shipping Supervisor.

His main objective and joy in life was "Training and Riding Horses". He was part of a horse club named "Wild West Wranglers". Lucien then branched out and formed his own horse club named "Stepping in Style Riding Club". Troop was a crowd pleaser at every parade, rodeo, trail ride,
any horse event, always closing out the show with his prancing horse stepping to the beat. The horse never missed a beat and the crowd enjoyed
every minute!!!

Lucien rode with the Ascension Parish Sheriff Mounted Division for years and was proud to serve!

In the year of 2000, Troop started his own trail ride weekend event, "Troop's Trail Ride 2000" horsemen from near and far would come and
enjoy a weekend of horse riding events, great food and good music. The community would enjoy the parade of horses coming through. The Morning Advocate also did a feature interview with Lucien about his trail ride and his ability to train horses.

"Troop – Phillip Road" was named after Lucien Cornelius Perkins that leads to the "Famous Barn" where Troop trained horses and many
throughout Ascension Parish and surrounding Parishes throughout Louisiana!

Mr. Craig Black honored "Troop" with a mural as the "Black Cowboy" on the side of the "Coffee House" off Hwy 22 in Sorrento, Louisiana!

The state of Louisiana and the Parish of Ascension presented Lucien Perkins with a Proclamation stating that the 10h Annual Juneteenth Freedom
Festival "Celebrating the Black Cowboys" recognize "Troop" Lucien Perkins and declared June 11, 2004 as "Troop" Lucien Perkins Day!

Troop and his horse club "Stepping In Style Riding Club" would be seen riding in many Mardi Gras and Christmas parades, the rodeo at Angola State Prison, and trail rides.

Lucien became a successful Entrepreneur back in 2016 until present for his great tasting product, JLK Smoked Sausage, "Taste So Good It Will
Knock Your Boots Off". He has successfully placed JLK Smoked Sausage in (30) stores. He has been a great Provider, Husband, Father, Grandfather,
and Great-Grandfather to his family until his transition, he was mandating his children and grandchildren the importance of studying and meditating The Word of God. He instructed the importance of gaining a relationship/fellowship with Almighty God.

Lucien leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and dedicated wife of (54) years of marriage-Emelda Brown Perkins; (2) Daughters-Andrea

Perkins-Darrow, La. (4) brothers: Louis, Sr. (Donna), Lawrence, Sr. (Marie), Dan (Debbie), and Carl (Libby). (3) Sisters: Barbara (Eugene) Watts,
Welcome, La, Linda Melton, Mandeville, La, and Albertine Conish, Gonzales, La. (2) brothers-in-Laws: Alvin Brown, Donaldsonville, La Irvin
Brown(Thelma)-Donaldsonville, LA; (6) sisters-in-laws: Vivian Starks, Donna Gray (James), Leola Barnes (Melvin), Betty Davis, Marietta Brown,
and Ann Marshall (Clad), all of Donaldsonville, LA (4) Godchildren: Tracy Anderson, Shakira Celestine, Cash Green, and Kyla Smiley. Hosts of
Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents-Dan Perkins Sr. and Margaret Lindsey Perkins, Father and Mother-in-Law, Albert Brown, Sr. and Leola
Brown; (1) Sister, Irma Marie Perkins Brown, (1) Sister-in-Law-Virginia James Perkins, (4) Brother-in-Laws: Joseph Brown Sr., Mannie Conish, Jr.,
Albert Brown, Jr. and Jessie Melton, Sr., two nephews; Dernell Watts and Quavis Perkins.
