Obituary

Otis Moore was born on December 14, 1957, to the late Lurline Moore and the late Otis Joseph Jude Scott. He transitioned to eternal life on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 12:45 a.m. in Metairie, Louisiana, at the age of 67.

Otis served as a dedicated bus driver for the St. John Parish School System for many years. He was also a proud member of the Sweetwine and Back At It Band.
He was the loving father of six children: Tanielle Joseph, Raydell Scott, Otis Chatman, Brittany Carter, Kevonta Johnson, and Abbygail Herbert. He was the cherished grandfather of Tyrus, Tyrielle, and Tyree Joseph; Raydell and Rydell Jackson; Conlan Tassin Jr.; Cayson Foster; and Maddox Francois. He was also the great-grandfather of Jyaire and Jersi Walter, Treasure Joseph, and Ra'Mir Jackson.

Otis is survived by his siblings: Cabrini (Shawn) Shahzad, Valdais (Sharon) Scott, and Thaddeus Scott Sr., from the union of his father Otis J. Scott and Sylvia Brown; and bonus siblings Rebeccah (Juan) Miraflores, Kevin (Lisa) Madere, and Ashley (Carlos) Cáceres, from the union of his father and Denise C. Scott.
He was the beloved grandson of the late Lucille (Melvin) Marshall and Robert Moore Sr., and the late Lorene Smith-Millet and John Philip Scott. He was the dear nephew of Margie Moore, Robert Moore Jr., and Hilton (Shirley) Millet. His great-aunts and great-uncles include Mamie Gray, Bessie Cook, Geraldine Millet, Rev. Willie (Ledger) Smith, Yvonne Mason, and Albert Smith Sr.

He was a godfather to SanJanette Burl, and leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends. He shared a special bond with his devoted cousin Bridget Williams and his longtime friend Bonnie (Barry) Clement.
Otis was preceded in death by his parents, Lurline Moore and Otis Scott; his grandparents Lucille and Melvin Marshall, Lorene Smith-Millet, and John Scott; his uncle Whitney (Delores) Millet; his aunt Carolyn Baptiste; and many other great-uncles, aunts, and cousins.
