On Monday, May 28, 2012, Otis Henry Taylor, Jr. completed his earthly journey when God called him home to a sweet rest. Otis was born March 3, 1944 to Otis Henry Taylor and Martha Mary Summerville. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized by Pastor William Scott at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, VA. Otis served in the United States Navy for 21 years and Merchant Marines for 10 years. He worked at Prairieville Wal-Mart after retirement for about 5 years. Otis was married to the former Clara Stephens for 36 years and they were blessed with two children. Precious memories will linger in the hearts and minds of his devoted and dedicated wife Clara Taylor, two daughters Shunda (Daris) Clark from NYC, Latonya Taylor in Virginia and one son, Lucius Taylor, also from Virginia. He also leaves 3 granddaughters Briana, Genella, Destiny; 3 grandsons, Samuel, Andrew and Devin; one uncle, Everett Summerville; and an aunt, Mildred Summerville from Sweet Home, Arkansas. Lastly, he leaves three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bontemps in California, Theresa (Charles) Crenshaw of Hillaryville, Lillian Stephen in California; three brothers-in-law, Phillip Stephen Jr. (Geraldine), Leroy Stevens (Elaine), Alvin Stephen (Joan) of Hillaryville, and a host of other relatives and friends. Otis was preceded in deat by his parents, Otis Henry Taylor, Sr. and Martha Mary Summerville, and his brother, Lloyd, and a few other relatives. Visitation will take place at Hopeful Triumph Baptist Church, Darrow, on Saturday, June 2, 2012, from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev. Wilson Gallow. Interment at the church cemetery.
