Randy Cox, born October 2, 1954, passed away on August 14, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, LA. He was 69 years old. Randy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He accepted Christ in his teens and was baptized at Bright Morning Star Baptist Church, by Rev. Cleveland L. Williams.
Randy is survived by his loving wife, Judy Cox. He is also survived by his children: Denise L. Cox (Bryan) of Lithonia GA; Umika Brooks (Quoizel) of Baton Rouge, LA; Nikia Simon (Allen) of Gonzales, LA; Pernellia Dunbar (Shawn) of Prairieville, LA; Iraina Sheffie of San Jose, CA; Eric Simon (Theresa) of Donaldsonville, LA; Shawn Washington (Kimberly) of Plattenville, LA; and Izalen Sheffie of San Jose, CA. He is remembered fondly by his step-sons, Edrick Simon of Napoleonville, LA, and Marvin Durham of Lithonia, GA. He was a cherished grandfather to 24 grandchildren. Randy is also survived by his sister, Beaulah Thompson (Morris) of Belle Rose, LA, and his brother, Steve Cox (Angela) of Donaldsonville, LA. He was beloved godparent to Marcia Frazier Hampton and Jaydon Tristan Watkins. He had special relationships with nieces Sharon Thompson, Jeanette Singleton, Penny Frazier, Linda Frazier, Jonelle Shephard, Shawn Brooks and a host of other nieces and nephews. He has two close friends; Kenneth Jones and Dell Mitchel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Cox and Pernilla Wiggins Cox, grandparents, Johnny and Beaulah Wiggins, his siblings: Ruth Harvey, Delores Williams, Virginia Singleton, Geneva Naquin, Joseph Singleton Jr., Lores Singleton, Curtis Singleton, and Mack Wiggins and a favorite niece Vanessa Faye Thompson.
Randy Cox will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the profound impact he had on his family and community. Randy will be laid to rest at Evening Star Baptist Church Cemetery, 806 Hwy 41. Napoleonville, LA 70390
