Reverend Melvin Green, 95, a long time resident of Darrow, Louisiana passed away on October 15, 2023. He was born on August 21, 1928 in Geismar, LA to the late James and Rena Davis Green. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.

Melvin served in WWII in 1946. He was later ordained on April 21, 1973 and pastored under the leadership of Reverend Brooks at Lily of the Valley Baptist Church in Niagara Falls, NY. He also was a successful business man.

Melvin leaves to cherish his precious memories: six daughters: Bernadine Jones (Trevor) and Augustin Vincent (Michael) both of Baton Rouge, LA, Doreen Jackson and Carolyn Haymond both of Darrow, LA, Joyce Ann Fergusen (James) of Niagara Falls, NY, and Brenda Green of Geismar, LA; five sons: Herman Green, Sr., (Beatrice) of Galvez, LA, Roger Green, Sr. (Monica) and James Green (Jackie) both of Zachary, LA, Volton Cornell Green of Baton Rouge, LA, and Melvin Green, Jr. (Sheila) of St. Gabriel, LA; thirty-seven grandchildren; fifty-one great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Mary Green and daughter, Laureena Jackson.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Macedonia Church of Deliverance, 17590 Hwy 933, Prairieville, LA 70769 at 10 a.m. Funeral services starting at 11 a.m. Pastor Huey Hase Gray, officiating. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery.
