Obituary

Robert came into this world on June 25, 1954, as the child of Bertha Gable and Henry Celestine Sr., who have since passed away. On September 18, 2023, he peacefully departed from this life in the comfort of his home in Kenner, Louisiana.

From a young age, Robert found solace in his faith, embracing Christ and receiving baptism from the late Reverend Joseph Diggs at the Community Baptist Church in Kenner, Louisiana. As he journeyed through life, he transferred his membership to the Community Baptist Church in Brittany, Louisiana, under the guidance of the late Rev. John Payton.

Robert possessed an infectious and unwaveringly joyful personality, despite the hardships he faced. He refused to let life's challenges dampen his spirits, always sharing laughter, cracking jokes, and offering encouragement to those around him. His positive outlook on life brought light to the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.

In the year 1984, Robert faced a life-altering moment when he was involved in a tragic accident that left him paralyzed. However, in typical Robert fashion, he never let it dampen his spirits. With a hearty laugh, he would often say, "I've been on vacation with pay for the last 40 years." This light-hearted perspective on life's challenges was a testament to his resilient and positive outlook.

Robert's legacy continues with his daughter, Dione Branch, who resides in Mandeville, Louisiana, and his son, Robert Celestine Jr., who lives in Kenner, Louisiana. He is also survived by three sisters: Lovenia Allen of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Rose C. Williams and Joyce Bradley, both of Gonzales, Louisiana. His four grandchildren, Rorie Celestine, Shawn Branch Jr., Dione M. Branch, and Ivione Branch, continue to cherish his memory. In addition to his immediate family, Robert leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a vast network of other relatives and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by both of his parents, four sisters, three brothers, two nieces, one nephew, and a great-great-nephew. While he may have left this earthly plane, his memory lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, a beacon of positivity and strength that continues to inspire us all
