Robert Lawson Sr., affectionately known as "Robbie" departed this life on Saturday, July 8, 2017 surrounded by family.  He was a native of Darrow, Louisiana and a resident of Gonzales, Louisiana.  Robert was born September 28, 1946 to the late Saul and Rebecca Lodge Lawson in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  He was a graduate of Lowery High School Class of 1964 and Southern University Class of 1970.  After college Robert began working at CF Industries in Donaldsonville.  He retired in 2008 after 34 years.  He was the co-owner of Lawson-Rollins Purple Shield Funeral Home in Gonzales, Louisiana and Capital Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Robert leaves to mourn his two loving children Brandi Rebecca Lawson and Robert Lawson II; grandson Braydon Reece Johnson.  He was preceded in death by his wife Althea Henderson Lawson and his parents Saul and Rebecca Lodge Lawson. Robert was also a community leader and successful businessman owning several rental properties.  He was a philanthropist giving generously to his church and other civic and professional organizations in the community.

His legacy and memory shall forever live on in the hearts of all who loved him. He will be deeply missed by all co-workers, family, and friends.
