Shawn Anthony Nicholas Sr., was born on September 9, 1980, to Cheryl Ann Nicholas and Edward Starks Sr. He was baptized at Greater Israel Baptist Church in Belle Rose, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Donaldsonville High School, class of 1999. Shawn was a devoted husband, father, and friend to many. He was an offshore tankerman for numerous years at PSC. He loved to fish, hunt, cook, and spend time with family and friends. He touched many lives, and no one was ever a stranger. Shawn departed this life on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Prevost Memorial Hospital in Donaldsonville, Louisiana.

Shawn leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Joy Nicholas; his children Allegra Nicholas, Shawn Nicholas Jr., Mackenzie Nicholas, Zaiden Nicholas, De'lyn McMeller, and Delanie McMeller; his mother Cheryl Nicholas; father Edward (Brenda)Starks Sr.; his mother in law Shirley McMeller; three brothers, Edward Starks Jr., Edward Garner, and Michael Starks; nine sisters, Carolyn Starks, Trenell (Tyrone) Bougere, Shontell (Anthony) Johnson, Cleo Starks, Jovan (Aundre) Neal, Ebony Starks, Michelle Starks, Janae Starks, Truly Lightfoot; a special cousin cherished as a sister Daisy (Shelton) Williams and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Shawn was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elzina and Lloyd Nicholas Sr.; paternal grandparents, Irene and Joseph Starks, one sister Helena Starks; one brother, Felipe Starks; his father in law Reverend Rosevelt McMeller Sr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
