Shirley Marie Jenkins, a resident of Gonzales, passed away Wednesday the 4th of October at Gonzales Healthcare Center.

Shirley was born on June 28 ^th , 1949; Shirley received her degree and studied at Delgado College in Early Childhood Education.  She worked for the St. James Parish Head-Start Programs as a teacher for 27 years.

Shirley was a beloved mother and a devoted wife to Herman Jenkins, Jr. She was loved by her 3 sisters, Della Irvin, Myrtle Felton, Stephanie Jacobs and brother, Wallace Herbert, Jr,(2004) Shirley loved cooking good food and her home would be the "hub" where everyone came to feast on her delicious meals and baked goodies.  She enjoyed socializing, going to movies and being with her family.  She always had a beautiful smile and a kind heart that could light up a room.

She is survived by her husband and four children, Kadrian, Kadairan, Brandon, and JaShea, and 5 grandchildren, three sisters, her god-son, Kylon Felton and several nieces and nephews, whom loved her dearly.
