Sophia Christy Tillotson, age 94, was the fourth child of the late Eugene Hunter Christy and Clara Stephens Christy. She departed her life April 16, 2016. She responded to the call of Christian Discipleship and became a member of Mount Gillion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. James Delaney. She later became a deaconess in the service of the church.

Sophia peacefully transitioned from her earthly life into heavenly eternity while surrounded by her family. She leaves to cherish her memory six children: Spencer H. Tillotson (Patricia), Baton Rouge, LA; Cynthia T. Dominick (Robert), Crowley, LA; Dianne T. Nichols, Judy T. Cherry, Prairieville, LA; Lynette T. Heatly and Julius Glen Tillotson of Baton Rouge, LA., One brother, Larry Christy, Prairievelle, LA; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins: A special nephew and niece Shelly (Slick) and Shirley Christy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Tillotson; parents, Eugene and Clara Christy; sisters, Irene C. Kennedy and Theresa C. Favorite; one brother, Leo Christy; three sister-in-laws, Olevia Christy, Hermenese Barnes and Joyce Christy; brother-in-laws, Rev. Isiah Barnes and Brady Kennedy; one son-in-law, Donald C. Nichols and mother and father-in-law Rozina and Johnny Booker and Alex Tillotson.
