Obituary

Vanessa M. Parms was born October 10, 1958 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Susie Allison and Audrey Jackson. At 4:51 on December 27, 2017, Vanessa departed this earthly life at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La only to receive her eternal life with her lord.

Vanessa was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. Dr. Richard Rayborn Sr. Vanessa started playing music at an early age where she became a musician for a local church. She was known for her dedication to the music ministry and the anointing she carried in her singing. Many young musicians and singers looked up to and learned many things from her. She is a graduate of the East Ascension High School Class of '77 and she also attended Southeastern University and University of Phoenix, where she received an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice. Vanessa was retired from the Ascension Parish School Board where she served for 18 years.

Vanessa attended the Christian Assembly Full Gospel Church until she moved her membership to True Light Worship Center under the leadership of Rev. Adrien Clairborne where she enjoyed hearing the word of God and singing praises as she loved to do. She was faithful until her health declined.

She was married to Curtis Parms for 35 years to this union two beautiful children were born. Vanessa loved and adored her family and shared a wonderful and special relationship with each one. Vanessa leaves to cherish her legacy and memories, Her loving husband Curtis Parms, Her children;  Kourtney D. Parms of  Houston, Texas and Collin Parms of Gonzales, LA , one grandson, Carter Raymond Parms, three sisters Laurie Allison Hendricks of Gonzales, LA and Rita Faye West of Oakland, Ca. , and Betty Jackson of Jonesville, LA. three aunts, Elizabeth Williams, Evangeline Martin and Ozell Scott of Gonzales, LA, ten nephews, one niece, three special friends whom she cherished; Lamaralus Jackson, Barbara Duhe, Annette McMeller and Rhonda Dunbar, other relatives and friends.

Vanessa was preceded in death by her parents, Susie Allison and Audrey Jackson, her grandparents, sister Mona Brown, nephew Avriste Terrelle West, her Godmother, Georgiana Darville , a brother, Harvey Jackson, mother-in-law and father-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and three sisters -in-law.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the overwhelming amount of love shown to them during their moment of bereavement. No act of kindness has gone unnoticed, and a more formal thank you will be done at a later date.
