Obituary

On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, Willie Jackson, Sr. made his transition to be with our Heavenly Father at 76 years of age. He was born to the late George and Marie Jackson on August 21, 1937 in Carville, Louisiana. He attended Sunshine High School and graduated in 1959.On May 1, 1965, he married the love of his life Shirley Stephens Jackson and unto this union he became the proud father of two children, Willie Jr., and one daughter Tiffany, and later the grandfather to Jeremy, Alexis, Angie, and April, all of whom he greatly adored. Willie, affectionately known as "Bill" to many, was employed by the Gillis W. Long Hansen Disease Center in Carville, Louisiana, and retired after 29 years of service. A proud member of Iberville Christian Center, Willie had a deep faith and love for God, and dedicated his life to the things of God. Some of his favorite pastimes included attending church, spending time with family, watching sports, and working outdoors. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 49 years Shirley Jackson; two devoted children, Willie Jackson, Jr., and Minister Tiffany Butler (Pastor Andre); four beloved grandchildren Jeremy Jackson, Alexis, Angie, and April Butler; one brother, Mark Black (Debra); three brothers-in-law, Charley Stephens (Esther), Frank Stephens and Lester Stephens, Jr. (Brenda); four sisters-in-law, Neomia Bolden (Amegio), Albertha Jackson, Leona Jackson, and Lillie Stephens; one special nephew, Leon Jackson (Mary); two special nieces , Shirley Brown (Robert), and Cathy Davis (Edward); three Godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister. The funeral services will be held at Iberville Christian Center, 4070 Hwy 30, St. Gabriel, LA, on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow after the services at Hope HavenGarden of Memory in Gonzales, LA. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 until 10:45 AM prior to the services.
