Purple Shield Funeral Home has been serving families and communities in Ascension and other surrounding parishes since 1962, as Purple Shield Funeral Service Inc. under the proprietorship of the late Mr. Homer J. Sheeler, Sr. He was also the president of Purple Shield Life Insurance Company of Louisiana. Purple Shield Funeral Home was bought by Mr. Robert Lawson, Sr. and Mr. Oscar Rollins in 1988. The company was renamed Lawson-Rollins Purple Shield Funeral Home, Inc.
